If you think about the school day and how much is packed in, you have to admit that it really is quite efficient. One of the key reasons for this is there is a timetable. A clear, organised, systematic schedule of when things are going to happen. Which means that year 7 don’t just forget to do Science this week or year 9 run out of time for History. Everything is decided in advance and then pretty much adhered to. What about our lives outside of work?Do you ever find yourself saying “I meant to go for a run, but I just didn’t have time” or “I was going to meet a friend for a drink last night, but I ran out of time”? Teachers are great at scheduling when it comes to work. We have lesson plans to make sure we fit everything into a 40 minute slot, schemes of work so we can cover a year’s content in the right amount of time and timetables to fit in all the students that need a slot with us. But when it comes to wellbeing, how many of you schedule in time and then stick to it, in the way that you would with a timetable?
Optimising your life is about putting systems in place. Why not try a technique that works so well at work, to make sure we also find time outside of work for the things that matter. Download this weekly_wellbeing_planner.pdfWeekly Wellbeing Planner here.
